Where can I operate boats with the SBF See license?
The German recreational boat license See complies with the ICC standard (International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft) and is therefore recognized worldwide.

The Swiss motorboat license trains good captains, but they are not allowed to sail at sea without a deep-sea license. This costs a good two years and over CHF 15,000, including a five-day course, a seven-hour theory exam, and 1,000 miles of practical training.
Is there an alternative?
SBF See
With the German recreational boat license for lakes (SBF See or Küstenschein for short), you can charter both motorboats and sailboats abroad. The exam covers relevant theory and gives you a sufficient basis for your first sea adventures under normal conditions.
The practical part is kept simple, which is why we recommend this for students who already have an A license.
If you do not have an A license, you will find the intensive course “for pedestrians” below, in which you can learn how to operate a motorboat in two days. You can build on this later if you want to obtain an A license.

Who are we?

How does the training work?
👉🏻You register and get to know us in a no-obligation kick-off call: We explain everything about the exam, you choose your knot fish, and receive your curriculum and initial materials. (only in German available)
👉🏻We meet in Zurich for a theory evening (German) and show you everything you need to know, practice navigation tasks together, fill out your registration form, and submit it.
👉🏻In the next room, a doctor will examine you and issue your medical certificate.
👉🏻You pay the total amount, including the doctor's fee, registration fees, etc., by payment slip.
👉🏻You learn at your own pace with the Bootsprüfung24 self-study materials, which we provide at a special price of 25.
👉🏻We practice the maneuvers you will demonstrate in the exam individually on our modern boats.
👉🏻With the knot fish and the accompanying videos, you learn the knots through self-study.
👉🏻On the day of the exam, your theory exam will take place in the familiar theory room in Zurich, and outside we will take the short practical exam with the boat you are familiar with.
